From Concept to Drawing: Rolling Rocky Hillside Takes Shape
I’m excited to share that I’ve just completed the drawing for my upcoming painting, Rolling Rocky Hillside! This piece is inspired by the oak-studded foothills and rolling grasslands of California’s Central Coast, where scattered boulders stretch across the wide valley floor, adding rhythm and character to the landscape.
After compiling my reference images, I worked through the design and carefully laid out my composition onto illustration board. Reaching this stage always feels like a meaningful milestone, the moment when the vision becomes tangible and ready to take its next step.
I’m now preparing to begin the painting process, most likely starting with the sky. I’m looking forward to building the layers and bringing this landscape to life, one step at a time.
Stay tuned for updates as the painting progresses!
