Tranquil Summer Reflection Has Been Completed!

September 30, 2015

Last weekend brought to a close nearly three months of concentrated work.  The final result was everything I was hoping for!  Tonight my friend and I photographed the finished painting.  It usually takes us a little while to get everything set up to capture the colors and eliminate any glare, however, tonight was the smoothest process yet.  I still have to make a few adjustments to get the colors in the photo to my liking before beginning the process of making the fine art giclée prints.  I will post the final framed image soon.

Paying homage to the woodcuts of the Arts & Crafts era and the inspiring beauty of nature.

After attending the Pasadena Heritage Craftsman Showcase I have modified my plans for the paintings I plan to focus on this next year.  I am also planning to attend the National Arts & Crafts Conference at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina.  Subsequently, I am planning to paint a couple paintings focused on North Carolina, beginning with Cascading Triple Falls.

But first, I am going to paint the second painting in my Yosemite Park series, Luminous Misty Falls. What follows below is the title and write up for my next illustration.

Luminous Misty Falls

Located below the granite dome of Liberty Cap lies 317 feet of breath-taking Vernal Fall.  Originally given the name Yan-o-pah or “little cloud”, it was renamed Vernal.  Fed by the Merced River just downstream from Nevada Fall, the waterfall runs all year long, although can split into multiple strands by the end of summer as the volume of water is reduced.  Continual spray bathes the lush foliage and paths below the fall giving rise to the name, Mist Trail.
